Maintaining your Zwinkler
or
the Care and Feeding of your Zwinkler
for years of enjoyment
WINTER CARE:
- If you live in a cold climate area, please bring your Zwinkler
in before the first frost. Water in the copper pipes will freeze and burst the
copper tubing.
-
- It is best to take your Zwinkler out of the ground
when you stop watering, and hang
it upside down to let any remaining water drain out. Then put your
Zwinkler in the basement or garage for winter storage.
-
- In early Spring, after all signs of freezing have past,
your Zwinkler may go back to your garden.
SPRING CARE:
- Before your watering season begins, it is a good idea to mix equal parts vinegar
and water and pour the mixture into the copper tubing. This should release any
sediment that might have built up. If your Zwinkler
has a heavy build-up of sediment you can use straight vinegar to clean it.
To ensure proper sprinkling by your Zwinkler, use a
straight pin to open any holes that may be clogged up.
WELL WATER PROBLEMS:
- If you are on well water or have very hard water, you can purchase a small
filter at any local hardware store to fit where the black rubber washer is
located. This should
catch any unwanted debris.
QUICK CONNECTION:
- If you purchased a large sprinkler you might want to purchase a quick connector at
your local garden or hardware store. They are very inexpensive and are fantastic.
You snap one end into the hose and the other end into the Zwinkler
sprinkler fitting. This will enable you to snap the hose in and out instead of twisting
and turning your garden hose.
